Gridlock Escape: Rescue Run
Clear the way. Answer the call.
A traffic puzzle on a little 3D parking lot. Slide the cars and trucks out of the way so the fire truck, the ambulance, the police car or the taxi can leave the lot and reach its call. Free on iPhone and Android, and right here in your browser.
Four calls to answer
Every level has a hero vehicle with somewhere to be. Clearing its path is the puzzle; watching it race to the call is the reward.
-
Fire truck
A building is burning downtown. Get the truck there before it spreads.
-
Ambulance
A patient needs the hospital. Open a lane and let the ambulance through.
-
Police car
A getaway is in progress. Free the police car to stop it.
-
Taxi
A passenger is waiting at the curb. Get the cab out of the lot.
200 puzzles, every par proven
- 200 levels
- 3–49 moves
- 5 tiers
The levels run from a warm-up of 3 moves to brain-melters of 49, and the level number follows the move count, so the game gets harder one step at a time. Every board was found by our own search and solved by our own solver: par is always the true fewest number of moves, proven by checking every position the board can reach. If you beat par, you have found a mistake in mathematics.
Five tiers carry you along: Learner, Commuter, Courier, Rescue and Legend. See them in How to play.
Phones, tablets and the browser
Gridlock Escape: Rescue Run is free on iPhone and Android, and the same game plays here in any recent browser with WebGL, on a phone, a tablet or a computer. Drag a vehicle with your finger or the mouse; everything else is a tap. The town, the cars and the sounds are all made in code, so there is nothing extra to download.
It is free to play. When you run out of hints you can watch a short video for more; that is the only ad, and only when you ask for it.
Questions
- Is it really free?
- Yes. Every level can be played and solved for free. Hints are optional: you start with 3, and a short video gives you 3 more whenever you want them.
- Do I need an account or a download?
- No account, no sign-in. On the web, open gridlockescape.com and play. On a phone you can also get the app. Only ranking in the daily, weekly and monthly challenges needs a sign-in with Google; playing them for practice does not.
- Is my progress saved?
- Yes, automatically, on your device: your best moves, stars and hints are kept in your browser (or in the app). Clearing this site’s data in your browser deletes them, and progress does not move between devices.
- Does it work on my phone?
- Yes, in a modern phone browser, upright or sideways. The controls are made for touch.
- Who makes it?
- Halfsky Publishing. Questions or a bug to report? Write to support@halfskypublishing.com. How the game handles data is in the privacy policy.
